Nkwanta North NDC vows to resist imposition of DCE

-

The constituency executives of the Nkwanta North branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have strongly opposed the potential imposition of a District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

This stance comes amid concerns over alleged bias in the selection process, with many accusing the vetting committee of overlooking deserving candidates from the Konkomba ethnic group.

The NDC executives, along with local youth, have voiced their dissatisfaction with the current selection criteria, arguing that it fails to reflect the diverse interests of the community. They also raised concerns about the lack of consultation with both the constituency executives and the broader community.

The executives emphasized that they cannot accept any candidate imposed upon them without proper consultation, as they value the peace and inter-tribal relationships that have long existed in the district.

Questions have been raised about the transparency of the process, particularly as no candidates from the Konkomba ethnic group have been considered for the DCE position, sparking outrage within the Konkomba community, who feel marginalized and underrepresented in local governance.

The NDC executives made it clear that they would not accept an imposed DCE and called for a selection process that includes proper consultation and consensus within both the party and the community. They stressed that the appointment should reflect the views and aspirations of all people in the district.

The youth of Nkwanta North have rallied behind the executives, advocating for a fair and inclusive selection process that acknowledges the contributions of all communities. They believe that a DCE who understands the unique challenges and needs of the people is vital for fostering unity and development.

With tensions rising, the NDC leadership is urged to address these concerns quickly to prevent further division within the party and the community. The call for inclusivity and fairness in selecting a DCE reflects a broader desire for equitable representation in local governance, a sentiment deeply felt by the people of Nkwanta North.
