The Diaso District Magistrate Court in the Upper Denkyira West District has remanded 19-year-old Emmanuel Quansah for allegedly murdering 62-year-old taxi driver Yaw Oduro at Ayanfuri.
Presiding over the case on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Her Worship Melisa Serlom Dadson ordered the suspect to remain in custody until his next court appearance on February 26. Mr. Quansah pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Peter Sagare informed the court that the suspect allegedly committed the crime in Ayanfuri.
Speaking to Adom News, Nana Kwabena Okyere, Asafoakye of Denkyira Akwamu, recounted that Oduro left for work on January 19 but never returned home.
Concerned family members lodged a complaint at the Ayanfuri police station, and later, authorities received information that Quansah was in possession of the deceased’s taxi.
An autopsy report confirmed that Oduro was murdered. He is survived by his wife and five children.
Nana Kwabena Okyere has called on the court to ensure justice is served, while family members attending the hearing have also appealed to the Attorney General for a fair trial.
