Ashanti Regional Minister pledges completion of abandoned health facilities

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing abandoned health facilities in the region to enhance healthcare delivery.

In an interview on Channel One TV, Dr. Amoakohene underscored the administration’s renewed focus on strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure.

He also highlighted the significance of preventive healthcare, stressing the need to equip communities with essential health information and basic first-aid skills.

“For healthcare delivery, we will start from the basics—primary healthcare. During his [Mahama’s] first term, significant investments were made in Community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) compounds and health centers. Unfortunately, some of these projects were left unfinished, so our priority is to complete them and make them operational,” he stated.

“The preventive aspect of healthcare is crucial. Our public health department must be proactive in the field, ensuring that people are empowered with the right information and first-aid knowledge,” he added.
