Heightened security in Parliament to prevent entry of suspended MPs

-

Security has been bolstered in Parliament, with a new perimeter at the entrance to the chamber aimed at preventing suspended Members of Parliament (MPs) from gaining access.

JoyNews’ parliamentary correspondent, Kwaku Asante, reported that the heightened security measures were implemented ahead of Tuesday’s session.

The move is designed not only to stop the suspended MPs but also to block non-MPs from entering the chamber.

The Parliament is expected to deliberate on the approval of several ministerial nominees who were recently vetted by the Appointment Committee.

The MPs were suspended for two weeks by the Speaker after their involvement in the disruptions that took place during the Appointment Committee’s proceedings on Thursday, January 31.
