GFA not aware of Nsoatreman FC’s withdrawal from Ghana Premier League

-

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has dismissed reports claiming that Nsoatreman FC has withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League.

These rumors surfaced after violent clashes during the Matchday 19 encounter, which saw Nsoatreman FC win 1-0 at home.

Tragically, the violence led to the death of a dedicated Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong (also known as Nana Pooley), who was fatally stabbed.

Despite the circulating reports that the FA Cup holders had pulled out of the top-flight league, Acheampong clarified in an interview with Sporty FM that the GFA had not received any formal notification of Nsoatreman FC’s withdrawal.

“We have not received any official notice of Nsoatreman FC’s withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League,” he said.

In response to the situation, the GFA has postponed the Matchday 20 fixtures as part of measures to address the matter.

Additionally, three individuals, including Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the owner of Nsoatreman FC, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
