The decomposing body of a young man has been found at the Berekum main lorry station in the Bono region.
Drivers and food vendors at the lorry station have raised concerns over the foul smell emanating from the body.
The lifeless body was discovered on Sunday evening, but all attempts to get the police to move it to the mortuary have proven futile.
The drivers told Adom News that the deceased is believed to have had mental health issues, as he was often seen carrying garbage.
“He came to sleep at the spot, but we thought he was just resting,” one driver said.
Some food vendors have complained about low sales, as customers have been avoiding the area due to the unpleasant scent.
The station officers stated that they had placed calls to the police, but by the time of filing this story, the body had not yet been removed.
Some passengers expressed concerns that the smell from the body could lead to an outbreak of disease, as the air around the station might be polluted.
