Brandon Thomas-Asante on target as Coventry City shock Swansea City

-

Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante played a key role in Coventry City’s historic 2-0 win over Swansea City at the Swansea.com Stadium, marking their first-ever victory against the Welsh side.

The match kicked off with Coventry taking the lead in the 17th minute. Thomas-Asante turned provider, delivering a perfect assist to Ellis Simms, who calmly finished from close range.

Despite dominating possession, Swansea struggled to break through Coventry’s well-organized defense, failing to create significant opportunities.

Just before halftime, Thomas-Asante doubled Coventry’s advantage with a stunning long-range strike. From outside the box, the winger unleashed a powerful right-footed shot that soared into the top corner, leaving the Swansea goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Swansea pushed for a response in the second half but couldn’t find the finishing touch, managing just six shots without testing the Coventry keeper.

In contrast, Coventry remained efficient in front of goal, capitalizing on their opportunities to seal the victory.

Thomas-Asante’s goal and assist brought his season tally to four goals and two assists in 29 Championship appearances.

With this win, Coventry City now sit in 11th place with 41 points and will aim to continue their strong form when they face Leeds United on February 5th at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
