Ghana’s Minister-Designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has made it clear that the country is determined not to miss out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His statement follows the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in 20 years that the team has missed the tournament.
Under coach Otto Addo, Ghana finished at the bottom of their qualification group with only three points, having recorded three draws and three losses.
While expressing the country’s strong desire to qualify, Adams stressed that the right approach must be followed.
“It doesn’t speak well that the African continent will meet for a football competition and Ghana isn’t there,” he told Sporty FM.
“The next competition that we don’t want to miss is the World Cup, but this wish should not lead to a decision that will not help us,” he added.
The Black Stars, who secured consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic last year, will face Chad and Madagascar in their upcoming Matchday five and six fixtures in March.
