Minority opposes approval of Armah-Kofi Buah over derogatory comments about Akufo-Addo

-

The Minority in Parliament has strongly opposed the approval of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as the Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, citing his refusal to apologize or retract comments he made about former President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.

While vetting, Armah-Kofi Buah acknowledged that his remarks—deemed harsh and inappropriate by many—were not intended to insult the former President but were a reflection of the political climate at the time. Despite this, he declined to offer a retraction or apology.

Although the Minority has voiced their objections, the Appointments Committee, in a majority decision, has recommended his approval by the House.

This sets the stage for ongoing parliamentary debates, with the Minority continuing to express concerns about the nominee’s position, while the Majority pushes for his confirmation.
