The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addae Odike, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss Emeafa Hardcastle, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, following a heated exchange at the Appointments Committee proceedings.
The altercation between Ms. Hardcastle and Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh occurred on Tuesday during the vetting of Defence Minister-designate Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
Tensions flared after Ms. Hardcastle reportedly referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus as a “Micro-Minority,” leading to a confrontation.
Reacting to the incident, Mr. Odike, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, described Ms. Hardcastle’s behavior as disrespectful and inappropriate.
“What is painful in this country is that people work hard to pay taxes, yet those in high offices still disrespect us. Mahama needs to fire her because that attitude is uncalled for. Respect and consideration for others are signs of an educated person,” Mr. Odike stated.
