In a devastating turn of events, a farmer in Tapon-Akura, a farming community in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has lost his entire yam harvest to a fierce bushfire that swept through the area.

The fire, which erupted unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, consumed the farmer’s yam barn, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair.

The 36-year-old Tapon Nchaame revealed that, despite the implementation of fire belts intended to protect crops from such disasters, the flames proved relentless.

During a visit to the farm, Adom News observed that the fire not only destroyed the barn but also incinerated the precious tubers that were meant to sustain his family and contribute to the local economy.

The farmer, who has dedicated years to cultivating his yam tubers, now faces an uncertain future as he grapples with the loss of his livelihood.

In an emotional appeal for support, Tapon Nchaame called on the government, NGOs, and other philanthropic institutions to help him rebuild his lost farm.

He also urged the police and the Ghana National Fire Service to take swift action against anyone behind the setting of bushfires.
