Nana Ato Dadzie, lawyer for political activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has stated that his client’s social media post alleging bribery within Parliament’s Appointments Committee is fake.
He further clarified that the post was not directed at the committee.
“The statement is fake; this is not coming from Mr. Vormawor. He never posted that statement. The statement reads: ‘NDC members on the Appointments Committee take monies from Mahama’s ministerial nominees before approving them, and the Deputy Speaker must submit himself to ORAL.’ This is not from Mr. Vormawor,” he clarified.
Nana Ato Dadzie made these remarks when they appeared before the committee for interrogation over the post, which has sparked public outrage.
“It is not directed at the Appointments Committee in any way. It was completely not directed at the Appointments Committee; it is only intended to expose certain matters,” he explained.
He added that the post was meant to inform the public about reports that had come to Barker-Vormawor’s attention, emphasizing that his client was acting as a whistleblower.
Mr. Dadzie, however, apologized on behalf of Mr. Barker-Vormawor.
