Defence Minister-designate, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has confirmed that his tenure as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of IT and Elections has concluded.

According to him, he resigned from the position following the NDC’s victory in the 2024 election.

“I took up the job for IT and Elections with the NDC, and after the elections, I informed them that my job was over,” he announced.

Dr. Boamah made these comments during his vetting before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, addressing concerns regarding his impartiality.

“No Ghanaian should have any fear about my impartiality. In fact, I could be the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and remain impartial,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fairness and transparency in his new role, emphasizing that his political background would not influence his actions.

Dr. Boamah also expressed confidence that his professional journey, which has always been about fulfilling his roles and responsibilities, would ensure the same commitment to his new position.
