A heated verbal exchange ensued between Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, on Tuesday.
The altercation occurred at the Appointments Committee proceedings when Defence Minister-designate, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, appeared.
The session was marred by disagreements after concerns were raised about bribery allegations by Political Activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
The Minority demanded a suspension of the session, stating that the reputation of the committee had been tainted.
The Chairman, Bernard Ahiafor, subsequently announced a short break.
Although the exact trigger of the confrontation between Miss Hardcastle and Mr. Dompreh remains unclear, it reportedly stemmed from a remark by the former, who referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus as a ‘Micro-Minority.’
The comment sparked tensions, leading to a back-and-forth between the duo.
As members and guests exited the hall, the disagreement between Mr. Annoh-Dompreh and Mrs. Hardcastle became public, drawing attention from those present.
Emeafa was heard shouting: “You are threatening that you will take me on because you are who?… what do you mean you are taking me on?”
Annoh-Dompreh: “You called us Micro-Minority.”
Emeafa: “But you’re Micro-minority. Doesn’t Afenyo himself use that phrase? Don’t bring yourself. Do you think you can bully me here?”
