A thanksgiving service was held at the Odumasi Presbyterian Church in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality to honor the tenure of former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Robert Yaw Kwakye.
The event brought together members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), community leaders, and residents to celebrate his peaceful exit from office.
Addressing the press during the event, Mr. Kwakye expressed gratitude to God for guiding him throughout his three-year tenure as MCE, which began in 2021 following his nomination by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He emphasized the need for unity within the NPP to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He also called on the newly appointed MCE to continue the projects his administration initiated to ensure the municipality’s development is not stalled.
“It is important for the new leadership to prioritize continuity to accelerate development in our community,” he noted.
The Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly, with Konongo as its capital, is one of the 43 districts in the Ashanti Region. Originally established in 1988 as Asante Akyem North District, it plays a vital role in the region’s administrative and developmental framework.
The thanksgiving service underscored the community’s commitment to development and unity, as residents and NPP supporters rallied together to mark the occasion.”
