Concerned NDC Disability Desk appeals to Mahama for inclusion in key appointments

-

The Concerned NDC Disability Desk has called on President John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his campaign promise of ensuring the inclusion of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in key positions within his administration.

The group expressed disappointment, highlighting the absence of PWDs in the 42 ministerial appointments announced so far, out of the planned 60.

“If you look at the 42 appointments made so far, more than 50% of the expected 60 ministerial slots have been filled, and the cabinet—Ghana’s highest decision-making body—has already been formed,” the group told Citi News.

They pointed out that while women have been included in the cabinet, PWDs remain excluded, noting that this contradicts the principles of the Affirmative Action Law, which is meant to safeguard the rights and representation of women and the disabled.

The group urged President Mahama to address their concerns in the remaining appointments, emphasizing the need for representation to ensure a truly inclusive government.
