Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to vet Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister-Designate for the Interior, today, January 24.

Muntaka Mubarak, a seasoned politician and long-serving Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, has had a notable political journey spanning over two decades.

His leadership and contributions have made him a key figure in Ghana’s politics.

Representing Asawase since 2005, Muntaka has built a reputation as one of the country’s most influential politicians.

He previously served as the Minister for Youth and Sports under the late President John Evans Atta Mills’ administration, where he played a pivotal role in promoting youth empowerment and advancing sports development, despite facing numerous challenges.

As an MP, Muntaka has been a consistent and active participant in parliamentary proceedings, gaining respect across party lines for his insight, dedication, and efforts towards national development.

His nomination for the position of Minister for the Interior signals confidence in his ability to handle one of the country’s most crucial portfolios.

If approved, Muntaka will oversee the Ministry of the Interior, which is responsible for ensuring national security, public safety, and law enforcement.

The Ministry coordinates key agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Narcotics Control Commission.

As Interior Minister, Muntaka’s duties will involve ensuring the effective operation of these agencies to maintain law and order, address emerging security threats, and uphold the rule of law.

He will also play a critical role in shaping policies that promote stability, peace, and sustainable development in Ghana.
