The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned the recent riot, destruction, and burning of party items at the Ho Central Constituency on Tuesday.
The Secretariat described the acts of lawlessness and violence as alien to the party’s values and principles.
Some NDC youth set the party office ablaze in protest over their exclusion from President Mahama’s ongoing ministerial appointments.
In an interview with Adom News, the Regional Communications Director, Kafui Agbleza, emphasized that the NDC has always been a bastion of democracy, discipline, and constructive dialogue. He stated that the party will not condone any actions that undermine these cherished ideals.
Mr. Agbleza reiterated that the NDC is built on the principles of inclusion, fairness, and respect for all regions.
“The ongoing ministerial appointments are guided by constitutional provisions, regional balance, and the strategic vision of President Mahama, who remains deeply committed to the development of the Volta Region and the entire country. It is, therefore, disheartening and unacceptable that anyone would resort to violence to express dissatisfaction,” he said.
He commended the swift response of security agencies in restoring order and called for a thorough investigation into the incident. He further urged party members, supporters, and the general public to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
“Constructive dialogue remains the most effective means of resolving grievances within the party,” he added.
On behalf of the regional executives, Mr. Agbleza expressed appreciation to President John Mahama for the appointments given to the Volta Region so far.
He assured the people of the Volta Region that their interests remain a priority for the NDC and that leadership at all levels will continue to engage with them to address legitimate concerns.
