Academic activities at the AngloGold Ashanti Schools in Obuasi are expected to resume on January 27, 2025.
The reopening was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, January 22.
However, management in a statement has said the date change follows careful considerations to ensure calm is fully restored for the safety of students, staff and other stakeholders.
“Management is continuing broader consultations with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone upon reopening,” portions of the statement read.
Both AGA Schools, the Williams and Brew School are expected to resume on Monday.
The management pledged to adjust the academic calendar to make up for the lost contact hours.
“To make up for the lost contact hours, particularly for our candidates preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE, Checkpoint Examinations, and the 2025 BECE, we will adjust the academic calendar,” the statement added.
Schools in Obuasi were temporarily closed down following a violent clash between the military and some suspected illegal miners last Saturday.
About eight people lost their lives following the firing of gunshots while others were injured.
President Mahama has since ordered a probe into the unfortunate incident.
