The owner and financial backer of King Faisal FC, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has called on the government to take decisive action and restructure the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) due to the ongoing crisis in Ghana football.
Grusah’s remarks come amid growing dissatisfaction among fans and stakeholders over the declining quality of the country’s football scene.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Grusah expressed his frustration with the Black Stars’ performance, particularly their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Ghana finished at the bottom of their group, which included Niger, Sudan, and Angola, resulting in their elimination from AFCON 2025.
“How can Ghana be at the bottom of an AFCON group which has Niger, Sudan, and Angola? This is unacceptable,” Grusah stated.
The seasoned football administrator urged the government to take strong measures to address the crisis in Ghana football. He suggested that the entire GFA leadership, including President Kurt Okraku, should be replaced in order to restore the country’s footballing fortunes.
“If the government wants to help Ghana football, then they must sack Kurt Okraku and the entire GFA. FIFA cannot punish us for taking them out of power. We need to be honest with ourselves,” Grusah emphasized.
Looking ahead, Ghana will now shift its focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March, where they will face Chad and Madagascar in the fifth and sixth matchdays.
