CPP’s Nana Frimpomaa claims to have founded 31st December Women’s Movement

-

Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Kumankuma, Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has stirred controversy by claiming to be the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement.

The movement is historically associated with former President Jerry John Rawlings and led by Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Founded following the 1981 coup, the movement is widely recognized for its significant contributions to grassroots development, women’s empowerment, and efforts to address socio-economic inequalities across Ghana.

Mrs. Kumankuma’s assertion introduces a new perspective on the origins of the movement, challenging the long-held narrative surrounding its creation.

“I started the 31st December Women’s Movement; my money funded the first T-shirt of the 31st December Movement,” she stated during an upcoming interview with JoyNews.
