Residents of Nkwanta South in the Oti Region are advocating for the establishment of a permanent military base to address persistent violence and land disputes that have disrupted lives and destroyed properties in the area.
In interviews with Adom News, residents expressed their belief that a permanent military presence would serve as a deterrent to aggressors and provide swift responses to emerging threats.
The call comes in the wake of recent violent clashes that have claimed more than six lives, left many injured, and caused significant property damage, creating fear and insecurity within the community.
Residents argue that a military base would not only enhance security but also promote trust and cooperation among rival factions, paving the way for long-term peace and stability.
They envision a future where peace fosters economic growth and social cohesion, bringing an end to the cycle of conflict that has plagued the area.
