The chiefs and residents of Banda in the Bono Region have expressed their gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating their Member of Parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim, as Minister-Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
At a press conference held at the Banda Traditional Council chief’s palace, Nana Pɛ Aboatea, acting president of the traditional council and Banmuhene of Banda, praised President Mahama for the nomination.
He highlighted Ahmed Ibrahim’s humility and dedication as qualities that make him well-suited for the role.
The nomination marks a significant milestone for Banda, as Ahmed Ibrahim becomes the first native of the area to be nominated for a ministerial position.
Nana Pɛ Aboatea described the appointment as a symbol of victory and a demonstration of President Mahama’s trust in the leadership capabilities of the Banda community.
On behalf of the traditional council, Nana Pɛ Aboatea congratulated Ahmed Ibrahim and pledged their unwavering support for his success.
The council is optimistic about the positive impact his appointment will have on both the Banda community and the country.
Youth leaders Jerry Sito and Wise Tomɛ also applauded President Mahama’s decision and extended their congratulations to Ahmed Ibrahim. They expressed confidence in his ability to uphold his reputation and enhance Banda’s prominence on the global stage.
Ahmed Ibrahim’s nomination is one of 25 ministerial appointments submitted by President Mahama to Parliament for approval, as part of efforts to form his government.
