Ablekuma North: EC blames NDC Regional Organiser for choas at collation centre

-

The Electoral Commission (EC) has accused the Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of orchestrating the attack on its office on Friday.

The incident occurred when the collation of parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North Constituency was expected to resume.

Louvre blades and other properties at the EC’s old head office were destroyed by suspected thugs of the NDC.

In a statement, the EC alleged that the NDC official led the group in the invasion and vandalism.

The statement also reported the alarming presence of two unidentified individuals dressed in military attire during the chaos.

It added that staff at the New Corporate Head Office reported threats from the attackers, raising further concerns over their safety.

Expressing concern and disappointment in the lack of security support from the police, the EC bemoaned the incident has further delayed the collation and declaration of results for Ablekuma North.

Meanwhile, the Commission is demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
