The Chief of Coaltar, Barima Okrekrebesi Asiedu II, has called for a thorough investigation into the recent shooting incident that resulted in the loss of life.
He urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the government to take immediate action in addressing the matter and ensuring justice is served.
Speaking at a press conference, Barima Asiedu II expressed deep concern over the ongoing chieftaincy conflicts in the region, which have contributed to the violence.
He stressed that swift action is necessary to prevent further unrest and bring the responsible parties to justice.
The chief also highlighted the region’s long-standing land disputes, which he believes are significantly hindering development.
He called on the authorities to prioritize peace and stability in the area, stressing that a peaceful environment is essential for community progress and attracting investment.
In addition, Barima Asiedu II appealed to former President John Mahama for support in addressing the region’s pressing infrastructure needs, particularly the repair of deteriorating roads.
He noted that improving infrastructure would not only boost mobility but also create employment opportunities, ultimately contributing to the long-term development of Coaltar and surrounding communities.
The chief’s appeal comes at a time of significant challenges in the region, but he remains hopeful that with coordinated efforts, peace and prosperity can be restored to the area.
