The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has cautioned the public against fraudulent social media posts, purporting the sale of lost or forgotten baggage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
GACL has said these posts are false and are intended to misinform and exploit the public for financial gain.
In a statement, GACL disclosed these posts first emerged in October 2024 and a disclaimer was promptly issued.
However, the fraudsters have resumed similar deceptive tactics to mislead unsuspecting individuals.
“We have recently become aware of fresh attempts by these faceless individuals, once again using Facebook, to deceive the unsuspecting public into paying a specific amount of money.
“Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) would like to emphatically reiterate that the post is completely false, orchestrated to misinform and dupe the unsuspecting public, and should thus, be disregarded,” portions of the statement read.
Meanwhile, management has emphasised that all official announcements are disseminated solely through its verified social media channels insisting that it has never authorised any third party to communicate on its behalf.
The public have therefore been urged to remain vigilant, ignore unofficial posts about luggage sales, and report any suspicious activities as it is committed to protecting the public.
