Bawuka Central Member of Parliament (MP) Mahama Ayariga Looks Set to Take Over as the Next Majority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament
If approved by the Majority caucus, the legal practitioner will replace Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who has been appointed the Finance Minister-designate.
Even though there has yet to be an official communication from the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), congratulatory messages have begun pouring in.
Special Aide to President John Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, took to Facebook to eulogize Mr. Ayariga on his new appointment.

Profile of Mahama Ayariga
Born on May 24, 1974 the lawyer cum politician, he served as Minister of Information and Media Relations, Minister of Youth and Sports under the previous John Dramani Mahama administration.
He also served under the erstwhile late John Evans Atta Mills administration in 2009 as a Presidential Spokesman and later a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Deputy Minister of Education.
Mr Ayariga was born in Bawku in the Upper East and attended school in Ghana, Nigeria, and the United States of America.
He attended Barewa College in Zaria in Kaduna State, Nigeria and holds a Master of Law (LLM) from Harvard Law School in the United States of America and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Mr Ayariga first became the first MP for Bawku Central in January, 2005, until he lost his seat to Adamu Dramani Sakande of the New Patriotic Party in the 2008 elections.
The seat became vacant after Mr Adamu was convicted and jailed for contesting and an election despite having a dual citizenship.
Ayariga recaptured the seat in the 2012 election and has been MP till date.
