Court sentences Okada rider to 15 years for robbing nurse

The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court, presided over by His Lordship Isaac Ohenaba-Kuffour, has sentenced 32-year-old Okada rider Yussif Salifu to 15 years in prison for robbing a nurse at Millennium City in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

According to police reports, Yussif Salifu, a repeat offender, had been working as an Okada rider in Millennium City after his release from prison.

On January 10, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., the suspect attacked the nurse as she waited at a bus stop. He forcibly snatched her nursing bag and mobile phone.

When the nurse attempted to resist, the suspect assaulted her before fleeing with her belongings.

The victim’s calls for help attracted bystanders, leading to the arrest of Yussif Salifu.

During his court appearance, the suspect pleaded guilty to the charges of robbery and assault. As a result, the court handed down a 15-year prison sentence.
