The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment of Linda Ocloo as the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

He has described the appointee who is the Shai Osuduku Member of Parliament(MP) as a hardworking individual who will bring positive change to the region.

Mr. Chaie said Madam Ocloo’s approval by Parliament would not be difficult.

“Mahama has done well to appoint her. We know she is very hardworking, and her approval won’t be difficult at all,” he said.

The former Ablekuma Central MP urged party supporters to rally behind Madam Ocloo, noting that she is an open and selfless person.

“She is someone who is not selfish and is very open. I urge everyone to help her,” he charged.

Mr. Chaie also expressed gratitude to President Mahama and the party executives for their continued support.

“We are excited, and we will forever thank Mahama for this great honor done to the Greater Accra Regional Minister,” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

Mr. Chaie further mentioned the positive impact Madam Ocloo’s appointment could have on gender representation.

“This shows that Mahama is bridging the gender gap,” he said.

The regional secretary was confident that Madam Ocloo’s appointment would receive strong support from the region’s chiefs and people, including the Wulormei, who would help her in her mission.

“What Mahama has done, our chiefs and Wulormei will support and help her to ensure that Greater Accra Region progresses,” he explained.

Asked about the qualities Madam Ocloo brings to the table, Mr. Chaie described her as a result-oriented person who is committed to peace and development.

“She is someone who always wants to bring peace wherever she is. She wants to see massive development, especially in the areas of sanitation and good health. She knows how to lobby, and this position will bring her closer to the president, which is crucial for developing the region,” he lauded.

He also dismissed any concerns about dissent within the regional executive, affirming that everyone is pleased with the appointment.

“I don’t believe there is anyone in the regional executive who is not happy with this appointment. Every executive is happy about it. The president has the power to appoint, and once the president makes a choice, we are happy and respect it” he added.
