Asante Kotoko suffers big blow as Albert Amoah is ruled out for two months with an injury

-

Asante Kotoko has been dealt a blow with the news that their lead striker, Albert Amoah, will be sidelined for two months due to injury.

Amoah sustained the injury during Kotoko’s 1-1 draw with Medeama SC at TNA Park two weeks ago.

He was subsequently absent from their FA Cup match over the weekend, where Kotoko secured a 2-1 victory against lower-tier side Acceler8z FC.

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum shared his disappointment over the striker’s absence but remains hopeful about his recovery.

“It’s unpleasant news losing him [Albert Amoah] and Kotei at this busy stage of the season. I initially had chills when it happened during the game because Albert is naturally a strong boy, but the shout he made during the impact left me worried. However, injuries are part of the game, and we can only hope he recovers quickly, as he has shown with his previous injury,” he said.

In Amoah’s absence, Kwame Opoku, who has scored in three consecutive matches, is expected to lead the attack alongside new signing Sampson Eduku.

Asante Kotoko will aim to maintain their strong form when they host Vision FC on Sunday for a Matchday 17 clash at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
