Redeem your promises to us – Gakli residents to President Mahama

-

The residents of Gakli in the Ketu South Municipality have expressed their hope that President John Mahama will fulfill the promises made during his campaign tour in 2024. These promises included road construction, access to potable water, a health facility, and connection to the national grid.

The community, which is home to many migrants from across West Africa, faces numerous challenges such as poor roads, inadequate water supply, and unreliable power, with difficulty obtaining electricity meters.

Many residents, who felt neglected by the Akufo-Addo administration, strongly endorsed Mahama and the NDC, citing frustrations with intimidation during the 2024 limited voter registration exercise by agents of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, with the NDC’s victory in the December 7, 2024 elections, the community has renewed hope for development and better living conditions, particularly as the area thrives on trading activities.

Yusifu Isaka, the NDC Gakli Electoral Area Coordinator, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support the party received, securing over 97% of the vote in all three polling stations in the area.

He shared the community’s anticipation for improvements in infrastructure, particularly focusing on water access, electricity connections, and road conditions.

Dzifa Abla Gomashie, the Ketu South NDC Member of Parliament, assured residents that the party would honor the commitments made during the campaign.

She emphasized the importance of fulfilling these promises for the development and progress of the community. The celebrations during the victory party were seen as a symbol of optimism for a brighter future, with the residents hopeful that their community will witness the infrastructure development it desperately needs in the coming years.
