Akyem Chia calls for new chief

-

The youth and residents of Akyem Chia, a community in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region, have appealed to Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the revered overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa State, to expedite the installation of a new chief for their community.

For over a decade, Akyem Chia has lacked a chief, resulting in stagnation and underdevelopment.

The absence of traditional leadership has left the community without the guidance necessary to address its challenges and attract investments.

Traditionally, chiefs serve as leaders who govern their communities, mediate disputes, and collaborate with government agencies to promote development.

However, the leadership vacuum in Akyem Chia has hindered progress, deterred potential investors, and limited access to government projects.

Speaking to Adom News, the Abusuapanin of Akyem Chia, Opanin Addo Danquah, lamented the negative impact of this prolonged absence.

“Without a chief, we cannot secure developmental projects from the government,” he explained.

Abusuapanin Addo Danquah called on Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to facilitate the customary and legal installation of a chief to steer the community’s affairs and restore its growth trajectory.

Meanwhile, some residents have expressed deep concern over the situation, highlighting the critical role of a chief in providing guidance, resolving disputes, and fostering development.

They hope the Okyenhene will address their plea to restore leadership and progress to Akyem Chia.
