The General Overseer of The Maker’s House Chapel International, Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye, has shared valuable insights on the value of wisdom.
He noted that there is human, worldly, and Godly wisdom.
In an interview on the BeginningTheYearRightSeries2025 on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the business consultant and educationist highlighted that wisdom is the most important ingredient of the “soup of life.”
Dr. Nyamekye defined wisdom as the right application of knowledge, stressing the ability to discern and make the right choices and judgments.
“You may be knowledgeable and not wise. To know is different from to do. Knowledge is acquired through school and experiences, but wisdom is the application of the lessons to solve societal problems. The school of life teaches us lessons and experiences.”
“Wisdom will help you know that you can eat with your enemies and not get poisoned because you eat with a long spoon, keep your loved ones close and enemies closer,” he explained.
Delving deeper, he referenced Chinese philosopher Confucius (born Kong Qiu) and his three methods of wisdom.
“First, by reflection; second, by imitation; and third, by experience. I call them the RIEs method. Wisdom comes through reflection—you go into retrospect, think about the past to know your shortfalls so you can make the necessary changes.”
“It is not just about strengths and weaknesses; it is more of a SWOT analysis. People say imitation is limitation, but normally, it is about being able to reverse a trend, understand, conceptualize, and add your new flavor. Imitation is not evil but gives you the foundation to do better,” he explained.
The renowned man of God emphasized that wisdom brings opportunities a person will never be able to lobby. Hence, if people have anything to ask, it should be wisdom—the ability to discern.
“Wisdom is the principal thing in all we want to do. It takes the wise to listen. So, to know how wise someone is, check their listening gauge, because their ability to listen will give you their level of wisdom,” he added.
