Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Young Apostles, Gerald Damoah Donfeh, has cautioned Samuel Anim Addo, the president of the club, following his controversial remarks about referee Maxwell Hanson.
In a social media post, Anim Addo accused referee Hanson of being the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) go-to person for “dirty work.”
He further alleged that the GFA had threatened his team with relegation from the Ghana Premier League for speaking out against the referee.
Reacting to the claims during an interview on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Damoah Donfeh called on Anim Addo to avoid involving Young Apostles in personal disputes.
“We have no problem with the Referees Association, Maxwell Hanson, or the GFA. If he (Anim Addo) has his own issues with others, he should leave Young Apostles out,” Damoah Donfeh emphasized.
The CEO also clarified Anim Addo’s role in the club, stressing that he is not its owner.
“My parents are the majority shareholders of the club. They make a financial commitment to the club. Sammy Anim Addo is not the owner of the club; he is a shareholder,” he explained.
In a formal statement signed by Gerald Damoah, Young Apostles distanced themselves from Anim Addo’s comments, affirming that the views expressed were his personal opinions and not representative of the club’s position.
