Fire guts electrical appliances shop in Tamale Zogbeli

-

A raging fire swept through a major electrical appliances shop in Zogbeli, Tamale, on Tuesday morning, leaving the store in ruins.

The swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), however, prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby storey building housing several stalls.

The blaze started around 10:30 a.m and onlookers immediately contacted the fire personnel who arrived shortly after.

It took three hours of firefighting before the blaze was eventually brought under control at around 1:04 p.m. and completely extinguishing by 3:11 p.m.

Reinforcements, including two additional fire tenders and a water tanker, were deployed to ensure the flames did not spread further.

No casualties were reported.

The Northern Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Masiku, and other senior fire officers supervised the operation.

Eyewitnesses expressed relief at the quick action and commended the personnel, noting that the fire could have caused greater devastation if it had reached the neighboring structure.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire which has left the shop owner counting significant losses.
