Liverpool legend, Michael Owen has suggested that Antoine Semenyo could be an ideal successor to Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian star departs the club.
Salah, whose contract at Anfield runs out this summer, has been in scintillating form but has yet to agree on an extension.
The former Chelsea winger has been linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen praised Semenyo’s performances for AFC Bournemouth, stating he would be surprised if Liverpool did not target the forward should Salah leave.
“I don’t think Mo Salah will leave this season, but in the event he leaves, I would be surprised if Liverpool don’t consider Semenyo as a replacement,” he said.
Semenyo has been a standout performer in the ongoing campaign, scoring five goals and providing one assist in 16 Premier League appearances.
Meanwhile, Salah continues to deliver for Liverpool, having netted 15 times in the league so far this season.
