A 24-year-old unemployed has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District for unlawful entry and stealing at Abuakwa.

Michael Gyamfi, alias Kwabena, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry, but not guilty to stealing, and would make the next appearance before the court on January 6, 2025.

Police Chief Inspector Evans Baaba Ayimbisa, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mrs Gloria Mensah Bonsu, that Evans Nsiah, the complainant, was an electric welder, who kept his working metals in his uncompleted building at Abuakwa-Canaan.

He said on December 13, this year, the complainant detected the theft of some pipes valued at GHc15,000 from the building.

The complainant started searching for the items and met a witness in the case, who saw the accused and his accomplice taking the items but didn’t do anything.

The prosecution explained that on December 16, the accused and his accomplice went and stole a metal table valued at GH¢1,000 and some metal pots.

Again, the witness in the case saw them and questioned where they were taking them to, but they threw the stolen items away and took to their heels.

According to the Prosecution, the witness raised an alarm, and some neighbours joined him to arrest Gyamfi, but his accomplice escaped.

Prosecution said the accused was handed over to the Abuakwa police and in his caution statement, he admitted going to the premises of the building but denied stealing.

However, after a police investigation, he was charged and brought before the court.
