The Member of Parliament-elect for Asante Akyem North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, has declared that no seat in Ghana is safe anymore.
He cited the results of the 2024 elections as evidence of a shift in voter behaviour.
“Ghanaian voters are now enlightened and sophisticated. Nobody can deceive any voter,” he remarked during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show.
Mr. Frimpong, who ran as an independent candidate, stressed his commitment to representing the will of his constituents.
“I will only accept a position from the incoming government if the people of Asante Akyem North approve of it. Every decision I make concerning the constituency will involve consultation with my people,” he stated.
He stressed the importance of accountability and respect for the electorate.
“I will always be accountable to the people of Asante Akyem North and respect their decisions. My footprints are all over the constituency, and I have earned the support of both NPP and NDC members” he said.
Reflecting on his motivation, Mr. Frimpong shared, “I want to always challenge myself naturally. This victory has strengthened my resolve to serve and deliver for the people.”
Mr. Frimpong secured a resounding victory with 26,926 votes, defeating the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, who received 8,933 votes.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Kofi Asamoah, garnered 2,469 votes.
