I finally slept 8 hours after December 9 – Nii Ashie Moore [Listen]

-

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, revealed the challenges and triumphs of his tenure.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Mr. Ashie Moore disclosed the dedication and sacrifices that contributed to the NDC’s historic success in the 2024 general elections, where the party secured 31 parliamentary seats in the region.

“When I became regional chairman in 2022, the NDC had 20 seats out of 34 in Greater Accra. I promised to increase that number to 25, but we exceeded expectations and secured 31 seats,” he stated.

This marked a significant improvement from the 2020 elections when the party held 20 seats, showcasing the impact of his strategic leadership.

Mr. Ashie Moore revealed the immense challenges he faced, including internal and external opposition.

“Some people genuinely like you, while others hate you for no reason, but you must learn to work with everyone,” he noted.

The chairman also admitted that sleep was a rare luxury during his time in office.

“For one year and eight months, I barely slept well. It was only on December 9th, after the elections, that I managed to sleep for eight hours because some people wanted to see me fail, while others wanted to see me succeed. But through it all, God made it possible.”

The chairman attributed the victory to innovative, people-centered campaign strategies.

“We used a top-down approach combined with innovation and technology. We didn’t sit in cars to campaign; we went door-to-door to engage directly with the people,” he explained.

Revealing the importance of fulfilling promises, Mr. Ashie Moore said, “I promised the delegates I would fulfill 80% of what I told them, and I have delivered. For instance, I pledged to organize refresher courses for our communication officers, and I will make sure that happens.”

He expressed gratitude to party members who contributed to the success.

“Everyone who worked diligently to ensure John Dramani Mahama’s overwhelming victory and the acquisition of 31 seats in the region will be duly rewarded” he said.

As a businessman, he noted his ability to secure support from other businesspeople.

“I was able to convince many businesspeople to support our cause. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned to focus on what helps the team and not talk about everything publicly. This is the time to implement every strategy that works” he noted.
