Founder of the Oro Racolta Charity Organisation for the Graveyards, Katheryn Agyeiwaa Yeboah has embarked on a unique mission to transform graveyards across Ghana into clean and serene resting places.

Speaking in an interview with Jerry Justice on Adom FM on December 18, Katheryn revealed that her passion for restoring cemeteries stemmed from a personal experience.

“I had a friend who had a dad I took as my father. When he passed away, I was with the family from the mortuary until his burial. One day, I visited his tomb and realized the place was dirty. I didn’t like it because he was a very neat man when he was alive,” she recounted.

The poor condition of the cemetery, coupled with her respect for the deceased, inspired her to take action.

“The cemetery wasn’t looking good or attractive. So, my team and I decided to fumigate the place, weed, and cement areas destroyed by the rain. We also plant flowers and put seats in place for people to rest,” Katheryn explained.

Starting in Tema, the Aurora Quota Charity Organisation has worked tirelessly to clean and beautify cemeteries, creating a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.

Meanwhile, Katheryn’s initiative not only improves the aesthetics of these spaces but also provides comfort for families visiting their loved ones’ graves.

Nonetheless, the NGO has become a beacon of hope for many who believe graveyards should be treated with respect and dignity. Katheryn and her team aim to expand their efforts to other parts of Ghana, ensuring more cemeteries are well-maintained and welcoming.

With a commitment to honouring the memory of the departed, Katheryn Yeboah and her NGO continue to restore dignity to Ghana’s graveyards, one cemetery at a time.
