Mohammed Kudus has shared the inspiration behind his unique goal celebration after scoring for West Ham against Brighton, where he unveiled a custom-made elephant stool.
The Ghana international is famous for his signature “take a seat” celebration, which other players have widely imitated.
However, during West Ham’s clash with Brighton at the London Olympic Stadium, Kudus took his celebration to a new level by incorporating a specially crafted elephant stool.
Speaking to Premier League Productions after the game, the 24-year-old explained that the stool was a nod to his Ghanaian heritage.
“It is a special stool from Ghana,” Kudus revealed. “Where I come from, the chiefs and kings, they sit on stools. So I thought it would be nice to share a little bit of life where I come from.”
He further elaborated on his decision to innovate his celebration.
“With my celebration on the boards, a lot of people are copying it now so I had to do something to stand out and showcase Ghana. The elephant is a symbol of traditional authority back home in Ghana,” he added.
Kudus, who now has three goals in the ongoing Premier League season, will look to maintain his strong form as West Ham prepares to face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium next weekend.
