Adjei-Mensah Korsah retains Techiman South seat after re-collation exercise

-

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has successfully retained his parliamentary seat for Techiman South following a court-ordered re-collation of election results at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.

The re-collation exercise, mandated by the court to address disputes over the initial results, confirmed Korsah’s victory with 46,663 votes. His closest contender, Christopher Beyere Baasongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received 43,429 votes.

Techiman South became a focal point of controversy during the 2024 elections, with allegations of irregularities casting doubt over the initial results.

Both the NPP and NDC had claimed victory, prompting the court to order the re-collation to ensure transparency and fairness.

Conducted under strict security, the re-collation exercise was part of a broader effort by the EC to resolve electoral disputes in constituencies with contested results.

The confirmation of Korsah’s victory ends weeks of tension and uncertainty in Techiman South, allowing the constituency to move forward. The peaceful resolution of the dispute has been widely praised as a demonstration of the critical role judicial oversight and institutional transparency play in safeguarding electoral integrity.

Korsah’s win strengthens the NPP’s parliamentary representation and reinforces its performance in the 2024 elections, contributing to the party’s growing list of successes.
