2024/25 GHPL: Hearts of Oak cruise over Berekum Chelsea to return to winning ways

-

Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning form with an impressive 3-1 triumph over Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 14 encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday night.

The Rainbow Club needed the points after suffering a painful defeat against their rivals, Asante Kotoko last weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium.

However, the Phobians took the lead early in the game when Ramzy Yussif found the net in the 16th minute, ending the first half with a 1-0 advantage.

Shortly after the break, Hamza Issah extended the lead in the 50th minute, showcasing Hearts’ dominance.

Berekum Chelsea managed to fight back as Emmanuel Sarpong scored in the 62nd minute to narrow the margin.

However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Kwabena Boateng sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, thanks to a well-placed assist from the standout player, Hamza Issah.

Notably, Berekum Chelsea played without their head coach, Samuel Boadu, who is currently with the Black Galaxies preparing for their CHAN qualifier against Nigeria on Sunday.

The victory lifts Hearts of Oak to 5th place on the league table with 22 points. The Phobians will look to build on this momentum when they face relegation-threatened Accra Lions on December 25.
