The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reflect critically on its defeat in the 2024 general elections and develop strategies for a strong comeback.
The NPP suffered a major loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in what many political analysts have described as a historic election.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Aboagye stressed the importance of the party conducting a thorough evaluation of the factors that contributed to its electoral failure.
He dismissed claims that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was solely responsible for the loss, stating that the outcome was the result of collective actions across the government.
Mr. Aboagye emphasized that appointees charged with implementing the President’s vision must also take responsibility for the party’s performance at the polls.
He encouraged the NPP to come together, learn from its mistakes, and reposition itself effectively for future elections.
“The government lost the elections. I have learned at a young age that you win as a team, and you lose as a team,” he said.
“I was a Metropolitan Chief Executive. In some areas, people may have needed something small, like a bridge, and Akufo-Addo put me there to handle it. He wasn’t in my constituency or my municipality. It’s possible I didn’t address those needs, and that made people angry at the government,” he added.
Aboagye concluded by emphasizing the need for unity and introspection as the party plans its next steps forward.
