Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undertake strategic reforms following its defeat in the 2024 election.
These reforms are aimed at reorganising the NPP’s structure and the selection of its leadership.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Mr Nyarko expressed a strong conviction that the NPP’s defeat both in the presidential and parliamentary elections was not normal.
He therefore called on the party leadership has a matter of urgency to interrogate the root cause despite the belief that the NPP suffered apathy.
The MP among other things proposed that the party must run as an organization by appointing or recruiting a top-notch secretary (administrator) to run the national secretariat with supporting staff.
Also, the NPP should abolish all internal elections except for the flagbearer race.
By this, the elected flagbearer on his own will set up officials both at the national and regional levels to assist the campaign for the general election.
