Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has disclosed that his passionate celebrations during their victory over Hearts of Oak were planned in advance.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a dramatic 1-0 win over their fierce rivals on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in a Matchday 13 fixture of the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Albert Amoah’s 95th-minute strike sealed the victory for Kotoko, sparking jubilant scenes.
Dr. Ogum, in a moment of elation, removed his tie and enthusiastically waved it in front of the ecstatic home supporters.
Reflecting on his celebration, Dr Ogum explained that both the intensity of the game and the manner of the late goal influenced his reaction.
“The manner in which the goal came. I mean look at the game we played, look at the chances we created,” he said.
“If I look at the way we played and the manner in which the game was going to end, I was telling myself, the game has not been fair to us. The celebration was pre-determined, I had planned it in my mind at home that when we score, I will remove my tie and then go and say thank you to the fans,” he added.
The victory has lifted Asante Kotoko to 6th place on the league table with 21 points.
They will now shift their focus to an away clash against Dreams FC in the Matchday 14 fixture at the Tuba AstroTurf.
