The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned its members, urging to desist from unlawfully seizing or damaging government property allegedly misappropriated by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This caution comes in response to reports of unlawful takeovers and destruction of state assets linked to individuals associated with the NDC.
In a statement dated December 11, Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande called for calm and adherence to lawful conduct among party supporters.
He emphasized that, any suspicions of theft or misuse of government property should be reported to the police for proper investigation and action.
Mr Gbande specifically addressed NDC youth organizers and regional and constituency executives, urging them to take the lead in preventing such actions.
He stressed the importance of respecting due process during the transition period and ensuring that NPP-affiliated officials are not harassed or impeded in their roles until the transition is complete.
“Report any NPP member found in possession of government assets to the police, and ensure the proper basis for such possession is established. The police should impound any questionable assets pending further investigation,” he stated.
He further advised against unauthorized entry into government offices or disruption of operations, noting that such acts would undermine the ongoing transition.
“Ensure no one seizes government assets—whether consumables, fixtures, or relief items—without police involvement, as this constitutes theft,” he added.
Additionally, Mustapha Gbande urged vigilance over post-election recruitment by government agencies, instructing supporters to report such activities to their constituency or regional chairmen.
The NDC emphasized that discipline and lawful behaviour are crucial as the party prepares to assume governance responsibilities, advocating for a smooth and peaceful transition.
