Actor Prince David Osei has issued a public apology to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following backlash over comments deemed disrespectful to President-elect, John Dramani Mahama.
“I deeply apologize if my words during the campaign offended anyone from the NDC. We were all focused on winning, but now let’s move forward and live in peace. God bless Ghana,” he wrote.
The apology comes after intense criticism from NDC supporters, who took offense at remarks the actor made following Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.
In a now-deleted post meant to congratulate the President-elect, Prince wrote, “Congratulations to the President-elect of the Republic of Ghana. I will be president one day very soon, so showing honour to whom honour is due. Don’t get it twisted at all, guys. I am different, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of here.”
However, the post sparked outrage after Prince responded to a commenter by labeling him a “fool” and questioning why he couldn’t aspire to be President, suggesting even a “drunkard” had been elected.
The remarks were widely interpreted as an insult to Mahama, fueling anger among Ghanaians, particularly NDC supporters.
