President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended an official invitation to President-elect John Dramani Mahama for a meeting at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The meeting will mark the commencement of the transition process following the 2024 Presidential Election.

This invitation comes after the Electoral Commission Chair, Jean Mensa, declared John Mahama the winner of the election.

In a press release, President Akufo-Addo congratulated the President-elect on his “decisive victory” and assured the nation of his commitment to a smooth handover of power on January 7, 2025.

“I look forward to working with the President-elect and his team to achieve this goal,” the President stated, emphasizing his dedication to a peaceful and seamless transfer of power.

President Akufo-Addo commended the Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Jean Mensa, for its professionalism and praised Ghanaians for their active participation in the democratic process.

“This successful election reflects the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy,” he remarked.

Calling for unity, the President urged citizens to come together to strengthen the nation’s democratic foundations and uphold the rule of law.

“I call on all Ghanaians to unite and work together to build a stronger, more resilient Ghana,” he said.

The invitation to Jubilee House underscores President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to fostering collaboration during the transition period.

By initiating the process early, he aims to reinforce Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democratic governance in Africa.

“I remain committed to the principles of good governance and a peaceful transition that will further enhance Ghana’s standing as a model of democracy,” he affirmed.

The December 11 meeting will set the framework for a cooperative transition between the outgoing administration and the incoming government, ensuring stability and continuity for the nation.

Concluding his message, President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism about the process and its significance for Ghana’s future.

“May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” he stated.
