The re-collation of results for the Okaikoi Central Constituency has been temporarily paused again after discrepancies were detected in the pink sheets submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Greater Accra Regional Electoral Commission (EC) Director, Mrs. Gladys Pinkrah, identified differences in figures between the NDC’s pink sheets and the EC’s copies, despite matching polling station codes.
In response, the pink sheets were sealed in a ballot box, with NDC adding their seals.
However, New Patriotic Party (NPP) representatives indicated they lacked seals to do the same.
Peter Boamah Otukonor of the NDC suggested reopening the ballot boxes for a recount, but the process was deferred as Mrs. Pinkrah requested more time.
The re-collation, now overseen by the Greater Accra EC Director, resumed with party leaders closely monitoring the process.
This follows earlier confusion and protests at the EC’s Greater Accra Regional Office, where NDC supporters gathered to demand answers over claims of 18 missing pink sheets during the presidential results collation.
Heavy security has been deployed to manage the agitated crowd, which includes supporters from Okaikoi Central and Ablekuma North.
Notable NDC figures, including Edudzi Tamaklo, Malik Basintale, and Dr. Peter Boamah Otukonor, are at the EC office to oversee the process.
Authorities are working to ensure a peaceful resolution as tensions remain high.
